Amber Group co-founder Tiantian Kullander, also known as TT, died unexpectedly in his sleep on November 23, according to the company’s official website. Tiantian was 30 years old and was survived by his wife and son.
In addition to co-founding the Hong Kong-based Amber Group, TT served on the board of directors of esports company Fnatic and founded KeeperDAO, a DeFi protocol that allows members to trade, borrow, and host assets with miner extracted value (MEV) protection. bots before giving it back to the community.
Amber Group’s official statement notes that TT has dedicated his heart and soul to the company, leading by example “with his intelligence, generosity, humility, diligence and creativity.” The company also stated:
“TT has been a respected thought leader and is widely regarded as an industry pioneer. His deep knowledge, his willingness to collaborate and his desire to always help others have benefited countless startups and individuals. His ideas and creativity have inspired many projects, people and communities.”
Eager to explore machine learning for trading, Amber Group started in 2015 as a side project for four traders — Michael Wu, Tiantian, Ho and He, and Bloomberg LP developer Thomas Zhu. They started working on the project full-time in 2017.
Prior to that, TianTian worked as a structured credit trader at Goldman Sachs and an emerging markets trader at Morgan Stanley. In 2019, he was included in the Forbes Under 30 list, which recognizes the brightest young entrepreneurs, leaders and stars.
The community reacted to the loss on Twitter. Arthur Cheong, founding partner of DeFiance Capital, noted that “the industry has lost a young, vibrant and, most importantly, kind soul.”
Just got some very sad news and really don’t know how to react when we were still talking a few weeks ago.
Rest in peace @0xttk

Tom C, co-founder of automatic market maker (AMM) Charm Finance, also noted on Twitter that TT was “one of the most sincere and most talented people” he knew.
I am deeply saddened. He is one of the most sincere and most talented people I know. he is one of the few people who gets cryptocurrency (and finance) and strives to do the right thing. I can’t believe something like this happened – the shitty world we live in
rest in peace
